Public Outreach and Advocacy

The Institute for Space Development Research believes that public outreach and inclusion is a critical mechanism for supporting our industry through encouraging young people to pursue science careers and by allowing the public to both understand scientific efforts and share in the excitement of discovery. Doing so also fosters a more positive view of space efforts and encourages funding toward increased development. Further, our elected officials respond to the pressures of the constituency. The Institute for Space Development Research works to improve communications between government, policy makers, and the citizens they represent.

Our key outreach & advocacy areas include:

Public Inclusion and Information Access

Public inclusion in science decision making.
Sharing of the results and benefits of science and technology developments.
Encouragement of free and open public access to results & publications.
Support for open-information and grassroots space efforts.

Encouraging the Next Generation

Informing children and young adults about science and science careers.
Improving and promoting science and technology education.
Supporting existing outreach programs that get our young people involved in science.
The Institute for Space Development Research is actively involved with student groups and activities.

Advocating space exploration and support of public space investment as well as enhanced funding for NASA and related agencies.
Advocating encouragement of private enterprise and investment in space.
Promoting international collaboration in space exploration and space development efforts.
Educating the public on the real-world value of space efforts and exploration.

Political Action in Science & Space Exploration

Promoting public communications with government in support of space exploration.
Consultation and communication with decision makers at all levels.
Advocating government support for private space exploration enterprise.
Assisting web-based media campaigns through web development, media deployment, and online marketing strategy.

Space Law

Claims & Property rights - Resolution of outstanding issues regarding space property rights is a key step in the development of a healthy space-based commerce system.
Commerce - Establishment of trade, transport, and commerce structure in space.

Note: We aren't lawyers and do not provide legal consultation on these matters. Rather, we are interested in pushing government action on these issues to remove barriers to the commercialization of space.
