Things You Can Do To Encourage Space Exploration & Development
Home Space Advocacy Things You Can Do
Here are some things you can do on a regular basis to advocate for space exploration and development:
- Write to your Congressional Representative
Congress won't act if we don't let them know how important it is to us.
- Write to the White House
Let the White House know there is broad support for space exploration and development.
- Write to the media and encourage more coverage of space related events and developments
Encourage the news media to cover more space headlines and developments. A big problem with gaining public support for space is that much of the public is unaware of what is going on and what possibilities are being considered.
- Give to outreach, advocacy, and research organizations and become a member space related societies
Obviously we love contributions, but there are many great organizations that are well worth helping out!
- If you are an industry professional, join and get involved with space related professional and trade societies
These organizations help influence the government and industry, and survive solely through the activity of their member base. You can find some at this astronomy / space organization directory.
- Speak with your vote
Make sure space is part of your consideration at the ballot box and let candidates know that their position on space matters.
- Stay up to date on Congressional considerations and let your voice be heard
Is congress considering a space related topic? Let your congressional representatives know where you stand.
- Talk about it
Most people don't know about the opportunities that space provides. Talk about it and share your knowledge!
- Encourage the young in our society to dream about how space will be in their lives very soon!
Let our kids know that we are opening the door to space! See what they envision doing with that opportunity. If their school isn't teaching them about space, ask the administrators why.
